Mango Habanero Moonshine Recipe
If you’re ready for a moonshine that’s sweet, tropical, and packs a fiery punch, you’re going to love this Mango Habanero Moonshine.
It’s the perfect balance of juicy mango flavor with just enough heat from habanero peppers to keep things interesting — a real conversation starter at any party.
Let’s jump into it!
Ingredients
- 3 cups fresh mango, diced (or frozen mango, thawed)
- 2 fresh habanero peppers, sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
- 2 cups water
- 1½ cups simple syrup (1½ cups water + 1½ cups sugar)
- 2 cups Everclear (or another high-proof neutral spirit)
- 1 cup vodka (optional, for a smoother flavor)
- 1 tablespoon lime juice (fresh squeezed)
- Optional: extra mango slices for garnish
Warning: Habaneros are very spicy! Wear gloves when handling them, and avoid touching your face.
Equipment
- Large saucepan
- Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
- Large pitcher or mixing bowl
- Mason jars or glass bottles
Instructions
Step 1: Simmer the Mango and Peppers
In a large saucepan, combine the diced mango, sliced habaneros, lime juice, and water.
Bring to a light simmer over medium heat, stirring gently. Simmer for about 10 minutes until the mango softens and the peppers infuse their heat.
Tip: For a milder moonshine, remove the habaneros after 5 minutes instead of 10.
Step 2: Add the Simple Syrup
Stir in the simple syrup.
Simmer for another 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
Step 3: Cool and Strain
Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
Strain through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl or pitcher.
Press gently on the mango to extract the juice, but don’t force too much pulp through.
Step 4: Add the Alcohol
Once completely cooled, stir in the Everclear and vodka (if using).
Note: You can adjust the strength by adding more or less vodka compared to Everclear.
Step 5: Bottle and Refrigerate
Pour your Mango Habanero Moonshine into mason jars or bottles.
Seal tightly and store in the refrigerator.
Storing and Serving
- Refrigeration: Store refrigerated. Good for up to 3 months.
- Flavor Melding: Let it rest at least 48 hours — the heat and fruitiness blend much better over time.
- Serving Ideas: Serve over ice, use in spicy margaritas, or mix with lemonade for a sweet-and-spicy kick.
