Sweet, floral, and just a little funky — Guava Moonshine brings an exotic twist to your moonshine lineup.
With its rich pink color and tropical perfume, this infusion is smooth, fruity, and perfect for sipping solo or mixing into cocktails.
It’s easy to make, totally unique, and guaranteed to stand out at any gathering. Let’s dive in!
Ingredients
- 2 cups guava nectar or juice (100% juice, no added sugar if possible)
- 1 cup guava purée or pulp (optional for a richer texture)
- 1½ cups simple syrup (1½ cups water + 1½ cups sugar)
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups Everclear (or another high-proof neutral spirit)
- 1 cup vodka or white rum (optional, for smoothness)
- 1 tablespoon lime juice (fresh)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional for a creamy, rounded flavor)
- Optional: fresh mint, lime wedges, or thin guava slices for garnish
Tip: Canned guava nectar (like Goya or Jumex) works great, but if you can find frozen or fresh purée, you’ll get even deeper flavor.
Equipment
- Saucepan
- Whisk
- Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
- Large mixing bowl or pitcher
- Mason jars or glass bottles
Instructions
Step 1: Build the Guava Base
In a saucepan, combine guava nectar/juice, water, lime juice, and guava purée (if using).
Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Stir occasionally and let simmer for 5–7 minutes — just enough to combine, not boil.
Step 2: Sweeten It Up
Stir in the simple syrup and vanilla extract (if using).
Remove from heat and let cool completely to room temperature.
Step 3: Strain and Blend
Strain through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove any pulp or seeds (if purée was used).
Transfer the strained guava base into a large pitcher or bowl.
Step 4: Add the Booze
Once the mixture is fully cooled, stir in the Everclear and vodka or rum. Mix thoroughly to combine.
Customization: Want it tropical but smooth? Use more rum. Want it strong and clean? Use mostly Everclear.
Step 5: Bottle and Refrigerate
Pour the finished guava moonshine into clean mason jars or bottles.
Seal and refrigerate for at least 24–48 hours before serving to let the flavors develop.
Storing and Serving
- Refrigeration: Keep refrigerated. Best enjoyed within 2–3 months.
- Serving Ideas: Serve over ice with a splash of soda water, add to fruit punch, or mix into mojito-style cocktails.
- Flavor Tip: This moonshine gets more balanced and floral the longer it sits — try waiting a few days for peak flavor.
Final Thoughts
Guava Moonshine is fruity, lush, and a little mysterious — the kind of drink that makes people ask, “What is that?!
It’s a perfect tropical infusion that works great in summer cocktails or as a bold standalone sipper. Cheers!
