It’s rich, spiced just right, and packs enough kick to keep your spirits bright all season long.
Perfect for holiday parties, gifts, or sipping fireside.
Let’s get started!
Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups vanilla vodka
- 1½ cups Everclear (or another high-proof neutral spirit)
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
Tip: Use robust molasses (not light molasses) for a true old-fashioned gingerbread flavor.
Equipment
- Large saucepan
- Whisk
- Fine mesh strainer
- Large mixing bowl
- Mason jars or bottles
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Spiced Syrup
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, water, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.
Whisk and bring to a gentle simmer until the sugar fully dissolves and the spices infuse — about 5–7 minutes.
Step 2: Add the Molasses
Whisk in the molasses until fully blended.
Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
Step 3: Add the Creamy Ingredients
When the spiced syrup is just warm (not hot), whisk in the sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract.
Whisk until smooth and fully combined.
Important: Always let the syrup cool a bit before adding dairy to avoid curdling.
Step 4: Add the Alcohol
Pour the mixture into a large bowl.
Stir in the vanilla vodka and Everclear thoroughly.
Note: Adjust strength by altering the vodka-to-Everclear ratio, or adding a little extra cream for a softer, dessert-like drink.
Step 5: Strain and Bottle
Strain through a fine mesh strainer to remove any undissolved spices.
Pour into clean mason jars or bottles. Seal tightly.
Storing and Serving
- Refrigeration: Always refrigerate. Best enjoyed within 2–3 weeks because of the dairy content.
- Shake Before Serving: Shake each jar well before pouring — separation is normal.
- Serving Ideas: Serve chilled, drizzle into coffee or hot chocolate, or pour over vanilla ice cream for a festive treat.
