Alpha = Alpha Acid
Alpha acid percentage refers to the total percentage as total weight of the hop. Higher concentrations of Alpha acids in hops are responsible for contributing more bitterness to the beer.
Beta = Beta Acid
Beta acid measurements are also measured as a total percentage of the total weight of the hop variety. However Beta Acid concentrations are an indicator of the hops potential for attributing aromatic qualities to the beer.
