Pinterest for Homebrewers

By Billy B. Leave a Comment

Without a doubt, Pinterest is the hottest social media site right now.

If you haven't spent time on it yet, it's basically a virtual pinboard (pin your interests, get it?). I was skeptical when I first checked it out. It seemed like something only for soccer moms, with boards of home decorations and cake recipes dominating the screen.

After using it for a week, however, it turns out it's useful for our favorite hobby, homebrewing.

I created a Homebrew Academy Pinterest account, so check it out to get a sense of what I'm talking about.

There are 5 boards at the time of this writing containing links to everything from homebrewing books to our top posts here on the blog. Think about how many homebrewing links you have bookmarked and how they would look on Pinterest.

I've found it especially useful for keeping track of my Brutus 10 build. There are so many parts and gadgets that go into building that thing that my organization has been a total mess. Pinterest has made it easier to save links and the visual format lets me easily find what I'm looking for. Not to mention it may help out other homebrewers who want to build a Brutus.

We'll continue to grow our homebrewing boards and make it a useful resource.

It's worth trying out Pinterest to see if you like it. It's got a ton of uses and it seems to be branching out from it's main niches like fashion, baking, and crafts.

Have you used Pinterest? What do you think?
