Me? I had a blast.
On Friday I attended the Farm to Table Pavillion for the first time. My buddy Mario Nocifera from Lower48 Kitchen asked me to help out at their booth and I jumped on the chance. We were teamed up with Nebraska Brewing Company (nice!) which was pouring their tasty HopAnomaly and Wick for Brains brews.
The food and pairings were absolutely delicious. It's also hilarious to watch beer festival goers at a food event. In the blink of an eye a person can change from connoisseur to scavenger. I got a kick out of it.
Favorite Beers from the Festival
Gang, I tried my best but I barely made a dent in the 3,500+ beers at the festival. From what I did taste here's what really kicked some ass:
- Wynwood Brewing Company Pop's Porter
- Hardywood Bohemian Pils
- Toppling Goliath Intergalactic Warrior IPA
- Modern Times Oatmeal Stout
- Wicked Weed Mampara
- Austin Beerworks Black Thunder
- The Rare Barrel Cosmic Dust
For an award summary I urge you to read Jeff's analysis at Beervana. Very interesting post.
I will give a shoutout to Colorado for a killer performance. We brought home a truckload of medals. See Denver Off the Wagon's post for a complete look.
I'd like to hear from anyone else who went to GABF this year. Favorite beers? Did you hit up any of the many events outside the festival itself?
