Beer and cheese pair well together, but do they mix well together? Darn right they do.
In this video I make beer cheese dip, a fun way to cook with beer. It’s the perfect time of the year for this recipe with football season starting up. You can make the dip in about 20 minutes and then bring it over to a friend’s house for the game. I recommend going with a German Hefeweizen for the beer addition, although an American wheat beer would work well also.
Beer Cheese Dip Ingredients
- 2 lbs white cheddar cheese
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 2 oz feta cheese
- 10-12 oz German Hefeweizen beer; I used an Ayinger Brau Weisse
- 1/4 cup dry mustard
- 1/4 tablespoon salt
- 1/4 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/4 yellow onion, minced
Combine everything into a large bowl except the beer. Use a cheese grater for the white cheddar if it’s not pre-shredded. With an electric mixer running on a low setting, slowly add the beer until the dip reaches a smooth consistency. The dip is ready to eat immediately so serve it up with some crackers or put it in the fridge for later.
Have you had beer cheese dip? What’s your favorite food to make for game day?
