At 4pm, October 7th, 2016, Cincinnati’s newest brewery, Streetside, opens to the public. And the lead brewer is none other than our own beer writer, Luke Shropshire.
On behalf everyone here at the Homebrew Academy, I want to give Luke a hearty CONGRATS!
Streetside will open with six beers, including:
- “Alms”-ESB with apricots
- “IMP”- Inperial porter
- “Super Simple”- old school pale ale
- “Raspberry Beret”- Berliner weisse w/raspberries
- “Alpha”- IPA
- “Teabags”- Green tea honey blonde ale
There will be an additional 6 guest taps, as well as cold brew coffee, and nitro coffee supplied from “Smooth Cincy.”
The brewery’s focus will be to produce beers/styles that have yet to be explored in the Cincinnati region. These will include New England style IPA’s, many different styles of sours, experimental hybrids and more.
How’s This For an Early Accomplishment?
At the recent King of Ohio competition, which included over 60 Ohio breweries, Streetside’s Raspberry Beret took Best of Show and best sour/wild.
Not a bad for a brewery that hadn’t event opened, right?
Now, Luke is no rookie when it comes to pro brewing. He was previously a brewer at Mt. Carmel. Here’s what he had to say about this new venture:
Streetside was founded by a family and I was mutual friends with their son. Getting the job was really a thing of luck, but I had Garrett over for a homebrew session and he tried all my beers on tap, we talked, and then he offered the job.
I left my last brewing job because I’ve been given unlimited creativity. Garrett and myself can literally brew anything we want and continue brewing what we want!
The brewery’s hours of operation will be:
Congrats again Luke. Can’t wait to try your brews.
